The analysis of some aspects of the technique can help to
explain the athlete’s performance, injuries and his/her future possibilities.
With the information that we present in this blog I’m not intended to replace a
scientifically organized evaluation process, but just to play with the
available information.
Mr. Cespedes has a history of sprained left tight and knee.
Also sprained right wrist.
When analyzing his batting technique we can observe an
external rotation of the left foot during the swing and before contacting the
ball. The angle of the left foot remains constant during the complete cycle of
the batting action creating stress at the left knee level. Hyper extension of
the lower back at the end of the swing is also observed.

Hyper extension of the lower back |
During running, Cespedes hyper extends his knees before the
landing with the heel in front of the body.

Conclusions: High risk of left and right knee injury. High
risk of recurrence of left tight injury. Moderate risk of low back injury.
