John Jaso. Baseball Player Mechanics Analysis-Oakland A’s

The analysis of some aspects of the technique can help to explain the athlete’s performance, injuries and his/her future possibilities. With the information that we present in this blog I’m not intended to replace a scientifically organized evaluation process, but just to play with the available information.

Mr. Jaso does not seem to have history of recurrent and/or sever injuries since the beginning of his pro career.
Analyzing his running technique we can observe an extension of his knees before landing what creates a rigid leg that, while impacting the ground, creates risk for his knees, ankles and hips areas. Landing occurs with the heels in front of the hip creating stopping forces and increasing the risk of damage at the mentioned leg areas.
Heel landing in front of the body. Stopping forces applied
Heel landing in front of the body. Stopping forces applied

Conclusion: moderate risk of injury at the knee level. He presents low to moderate risk of injuries in other areas of the legs.
